Scuba Diving in Mozambique rivals the world’s best. The reefs are protected and not overcrowded and the sea life is astounding.
There are frequent sightings of the Manta Ray
and Whale Sharks.
It is an underwater photographer’s paradise with Coral Reefs
and an astounding diversity of marine species, with Moray Eels, Stingrays, Barracuda, Kingfish and other pelagic game fish to be seen. Dolphins are also frequently encountered.
Diving with Dugongs
is not impossible and divers may even be lucky enough to observe them underwater. Dugongs are increasingly rare, but can still be found in East African waters. Their numbers are declining worldwide and the species is classified as vulnerable to extinction.
Accommodation is in a luxury guest house situated amongst coconut palms right on the beach with a stunning view of the ocean. All the rooms have fans and mosquito nets.
Batfish Pinnacle
Schools of Batfish gave this site its name. There is plenty of game fish, Potato Bass and sharks. The reef is brightly coloured with whip, plate and staghorn corals which is teaming with life. This is a great night dive where you are almost certain to spot Sea Turtles sleeping. The site has an average depth of 12m with a maximum depth of 16m.
Cave
The Cave is an amphitheatre with a swim through cave. It is a pleasant shallow dive and a good start for beginners to the sport of scuba diving. There is a resident Dragon Moray, shoals of Bluebanded Snappers, Puffer Fish and miniature Tobies. The site has an average depth of 9m with a maximum depth of 12m.
Devil’s Peak
Devil’s Peak is an almost free standing rock with a swim through. There are plenty of caves and overhangs to explore. It is one of the best local dive sites, with an abundance of Frogfish, Ghost Pipefish, Arrow and Porcelain Crabs, Banded Cleaner Shrimp and resident Potato Bass, Paperfish and Angel Fish. The site has an average depth of 12m with a maximum depth of 19m.
Hard Rock
Hard Rock has two large boulders that identify the site. It is situated 850m from shore and it is a very short boat ride. It is a site with the most spectacular and interesting creatures you will ever see. The reefs main attraction is Cleaner Shrimps. The site has an average depth of 15m with a maximum depth of 22m.
Pao Rock
Pao Rock is only a 3 minute boat ride from the launch site. The rock and surrounding pinnacles are a macro photographer’s first choice with brightly coloured Nudibranches, well camouflaged Leaf Fish and a variety of Shrimp. Other species you may encounter on this site are Guitar Sharks, Crocodile Flat Heads, Manta and Sting Rays and Cleaner Shrimps. The site has an average depth of 12m with a maximum depth of 18m.
Green Tree
Green Tree is 8km from the launch site and you’ll experience the most amazing experience. This site is a spectacular wall dive. It is a 10m high wall, covered in green coral trees. There is 14 Green Tree Corals reaching up to 6m in height and 5m in diameter. This site has many different species of marine life with game fish, Potato Bass, Sting Rays and big shoals of Banner Fish. The site has an average depth of 22m with a maximum depth of 35m.
Manta Reef
Manta Reef is one of the most pristine dive sites in the world and is only 10km away from the launch site. This site is one of only two registered Manta-Cleaning stations and this makes this reef known world wide. It is this area's signature dive site and there are 3 cleaner stations in total on this reef. This is Manta paradise, but you can also see Whale Sharks, game fish, Potato Bass, Blue Banded Snappers and shoals of Batfish. This site is a must!
The site has an average depth of 18m with a maximum depth of 27m.
Extacy Reef
Extacy Reef is truly justified by its name and you can expect a great amount of excitement throughout the whole dive. This reef has a plateau with steep ledges and deep crevices. There are scattered rock formations and arches, and the reef has great swim troughs. Manta Rays can be observed circling while being groomed by Cleaner Wrasse. Garden Eels, Sea Turtles, Devil Rays, Zebra Sharks and large Crayfish make this site one of the favourites.
The site has an average depth of 20m with a maximum depth of 31m.
Paindane Reef
The strong current around this reef has earned it its nickname ‘Paindane Express’. This is a small wall dive that starts close to shore in 18m of water and runs rapidly down to 35m. There is brilliant coloured Corals and Gorgonian Sea Fans with fast moving game fish, Sting Rays, Brindle Bass, Potato Bass and the occasional Reef Shark. This is a very interesting dive. The site has an average depth of 18m with a maximum depth of 35m.
PADI courses are available and the dive centre is DAN accredited with a 3m training pool.
